LOST MEDIA - Tory Lanez - Diamonds In The Sky (2011)

A few months ago, a fellow member of the rap rarities community brought a piece of lost media to my attention. After hearing about it, I immediately became invested in the search.

The media in question is the song, "Diamonds in the Sky" by Toronto recording artist Tory Lanez. Of course, Tory is pretty high profile these days. However, this song is from 2010/2011 when he hadn't become as well-known as he later would. The track is an unreleased leftover from the "Mr. Peterson (2011)" mixtape.

An initial Google search will return the similarly titled 2016 song "Diamonds" also by Lanez. However, this is obviously not the same song. Other results include a blank Last.fm page for the song, and a few posts on various websites searching for it. These posts made by the primary seeker mentioned earlier and myself.

The song was posted to his YouTube channel (keysbrooklyn) sometime in 2011, but was subsequently deleted.  It is unknown why it was deleted or what has happened to it since.

I was able to search the Wayback Machine and find a screencap of Tory's videos from around that time (pictured below). It was only archived up until July 2012. I also found evidence of another lost track called "Baby It's Over" from the "Mr. Peterson" sessions. Unless it was released in some other form, this song may be missing as well.

It is quite fascinating in fairly recent times that a song posted to a YouTube channel of someone with the fame of Tory Lanez could go missing without a trace. Even if it was deleted, by now someone could have easily re-uploaded it . Surely someone saved the track and has it on their hard drive and is unaware of the search for it.

If you have any leads or information on the track, please send it over to findingrapmedia@gmail.com!
